Benitez outlook for this season?

Postby BuckeyeSal » Mon Jul 11, 2005 5:07 pm

I picked up Armando off the WW last week and everyone in my league feels that he won't be pitching this year because the Giants are out of it.(this theory is helped by Yahoo's notes and not actual reseach by them) My question is this, why would the Giants have Benitez pitch off a mound ahead of schedule if they didn't think they were going to have him back. Wouldn't they just say rest it and let it chill out till next winter? Any feedback appreciated.

I think you're better off going after Brandon Lyon (if available) if you're looking for a closer that has a decent shot at returning.

in my league a guy like Lyon has been held on to the whole season. My league or this board frustrates me occasionally because there are always posts about great guys to pick up that guys in my league hold on to like gold. Too many DL spots I guess.

It seems like Benitez & Bonds are in the same boat as far as coming back this season.

I would think if the Giants are out of it why rush Benitez back at all. Walker has looked pretty solid in that role.

I would agree Spidey, but why are they even pitching him now then?

I haven't really heard much but I bet "throwing off a mound" & pitching are a little different.
