Beltran-Piazza think Prime lol. Also Reyes-Cameron, Piazza-Floyd, Marlon Anderson-Wright. All great 1-2 punches. The mets prolly have the only 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 in the league. And Pedro can hit em out
The Mets will win the World Series this year.

So?
Maybe it looks nice, but I really don't think it makes a difference with only two players if the rest of the lineup is spread out. If the order was all righty then sure, but in the example you gave, that team's got
R
L
R
R
L
L
S
S
S
In that order, it hardly matters.

Just going off Runs Created this is how they stack up this year....It's obviously not perfect as injuries play a big part in this. I just decided it'd be interesting to see how everyone stacked up and decided to post it here.

Nice post; do you have last year's numbers for the same players? Yes I know the batting order wasn't necessarily the same last season as well as from FA signings, but I think that part only affects Cabrera and Delgado.

We're not talking about the whole team, blank, just the best two hitters back to back. When you're talking about two top players back to back, that they bat from opposite sides of the plate is important. You can't bring in a righty killer or LOOGY to face the likes of Manny/Ortiz, Delgado/Cabrera, Pujols/Edmonds, etc.
