Bonds is looking like a complete bust this season.
Rotoworld:
ESPN's Pedro Gomez reports that Barry Bonds has yet to begin baseball-related activities and the new target date for his return is mid-August.
The range of motion in Bonds' knee is supposedly better and he's still working with a physical therapist. Basically, they just pushed the expected return date back two weeks. However, mid-August is the fifth return date we've had for Bonds this year. That's right, the fifth. At this point, if the Giants are out of the race with six weeks left would you really expect to see Bonds play?

Nothing to put fans in the seats like a chase for Ruth...especially when the Giants are 20 games out of that division.

Its too bad.
Baseball had moved on without Barry. Now we get to hear all the BALCO and steriods talk all over once he comes back. Please just retire Barry.

Somehow I doubt many people will be running to Sept games in SF to see flaxseed oil Barry break Ruth's record while the Giants are 10+ out and playing in meaningless games. Outside fo Bonds wanting to maybe get 10-15 homers tacked on for this season to make chasing down Aaron easier next season, I hardly see the point of him even playing at that point.

You'd be surprised. They worship Barry here in SF. That stadium has been absolutely packed every time he's even close to a milestone. Believe me, passing Ruth would be a big deal in San Francisco, and the Giants know it.

I agree. There aren't many baseball players that I truly hate, but Bonds is one of them.
