The commissioner and another manager made a trade. The commissioner was getting Macdougal and C. Patterson for Mackowiack and he was dropping Rondell White to make room on his roster. The day before the trade was to go through the commissioner vetoed the trade because Patterson had been sent down to the minors, and he posted to the other manager that he would still like to do the trade of macdougal for mackowiack, which is still the same basic trade, but he just doesn't want to drop White and then have to drop Patterson 3 days later and pick White up again. Is this a gross abuse of the commissioner's powers or is this reasonable?

I wouldn't call it a gross abuse, but I think one of the most important parts of commishing is to never use your position in a way that helps your team, no matter how small.
The commish should just let this deal go through as originally agreed upon. If he does, give him some props: being a good commish isn't easy, especially when your own team is involved in situations like this.
Sounds like a deep league if he's worried about losing Rondell White.

It don't think it is an abuse of power, if he has a solid track record. As the commish, If someone goes on the DL or gets sent down while the trade is pending I ask both managers (ussually the one getting the injured guy) if they still want it to go through. If not, I veto. I argue that he didn't pass the team physical
If he outright vetos all trades with similar cirmumstances then I see no problem.

Oh, absolutely. If this is a league rule (or just common practice), that's a completely different story. If that's the case, the commish should treat this deal as he would any other.
