Because the only reason he is in it is due to no one better from a different country. Pudge at least is an all-star and it's in front of his home town crowd. Who are these hitters besides Pudge that Choi is a better power hitter then?

With the exception of Ortiz and maybe Teixeira, he's probably the most powerful hitter in that lineup. He's not the best hitter or the best power hitter, but he's easily got more raw power than Pudge, Bay, Jones and Abreu. His numbers don't show it cause he's not a fully developed hitter yet, but I really like his chances in a HR derby setting...

Ok I will give you Pudge and maybe Bay, but Andruw & Abreu? Fine just to make it interesting I will give you those two also. The fact is he is a platoon player that can't hit and was a last option. He isn't even a top hitter when it comes to power, there are plenty of guys that have just as much power and quite a few that have more. In other words no one cares to see him....

Yeah, he probably doesn't belong there, but that doesn't mean he can't win it. He's got a great eye and tremendous power. I think it would be great if he won it!

Well yeah I never said he couldn't, I just don't think he should be there or even considered. If he won it he would have to have an amazing showing or everyone else would suck ..... so a 50% chance that the home run derby would be boring, I'd take my chances preferring he didn't win it.
