Blue Jays Halladay to Miss At Least One Month

Postby checkers » Sun Jul 10, 2005 10:37 am

Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays SP Roy Halladay (leg) will miss at least a month, after breaking a bone in his left leg Friday, July 8, according to the Associated Press. The pitcher was taken to the hospital for X-rays, which revealed a nondisplaced fracture. Initial reports said that Halladay had only suffered a bruise, but the injury turned out to be far more serious.

Jul 20 Halladay (broken tibia) has shed his crutches and is optimistic he can be back on the early side of the original four-to-six week estimate, the Toronto Sun reports.

Recommendation: "I'm encouraged, no question," said Halladay. "I think we'll know a lot better where we are in another week." He was injured on July 8, so he'll be sidelined about another 2 1/2 weeks at the minimum.

---I can deal with 2 1/2 weeks.

from rotoworld:

Roy Halladay will throw 55-65 pitches in a simulated game on Saturday and could return from the 15-day DL as early as Tuesday.

Great news. That went pretty quick. Now the question is do you give him a start on the bench???

Roy Halladay will not pitch this weekend after all.
''We're going to back him off,'' manager John Gibbons said. ''He is still not where we think he needs to be. He still has not done any fielding drills. He thinks he can go but we don't think it makes sense.'' Josh Towers will start Sunday against the Yankees, leaving Halladay disappointed. ''It's a big series for us and it would have been nice just getting back,'' he said. ''It's just going to be a day-to-day thing and maybe having a couple of off days will help.'' Aug. 5 - 11:35 am et

The Blue Jays hope Roy Halladay (P) Tor returns from the DL next Monday, according to the AP. Halladay will pitch five innings in a simulated game Wednesday and take some fielding practice. He's recovering from a broken bone in his left leg.
