Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays SP Roy Halladay (leg) will miss at least a month, after breaking a bone in his left leg Friday, July 8, according to the Associated Press. The pitcher was taken to the hospital for X-rays, which revealed a nondisplaced fracture. Initial reports said that Halladay had only suffered a bruise, but the injury turned out to be far more serious.

Jul 20 Halladay (broken tibia) has shed his crutches and is optimistic he can be back on the early side of the original four-to-six week estimate, the Toronto Sun reports.

Recommendation: "I'm encouraged, no question," said Halladay. "I think we'll know a lot better where we are in another week." He was injured on July 8, so he'll be sidelined about another 2 1/2 weeks at the minimum.
