I must agree. But wouldn't drop as many as above.

Ready Soon
Jason Kubel Min OF (out for the year, but a pure hitter)
Chris Lubanski KC OF
Curtis Granderson Det OF
Nick Markakis Bal OF
Brandon Moss Bos OF

Ready in a couple of years
Jeff Fiorentino Bal OF
Eddy Martinez-Esteve SF OF
Jon Zeringue Ari OF

Andy LaRoche LA 3B (probably the best on this list)

George Kottaras SD C (if you didn't have the best catching prospect, I would tell you to pick up the 2nd best)
Miguel Montero Ari (break out year, needs to show he can do it at AA)

Yuniesky Betancourt Sea SS (glove is there, will the bat be?)
Sergio Santos Ari SS (struggling so far in AAA, but still young)

Dustin Pedroia Bos 2B (signal the end to the Mark Bellhorn era)
Anderson Hernandez NYM 2B (see above, but insert Kaz Matsui)

Francisco Liriano Min SP (rumors of the next Johan Santana)
Yusmeiro Petit NYM SP (gets guys out with average stuff)
Anthony Reyes StL SP (great stuff, but needs to stay injury free)
Troy Patton Hou SP (break out year so far)
Anibal Sanchez Bos SP (fully back from 2003 injury)
Jon Lester Bos SP (furthest from the bigs of BoSox pitchers may turn out to be the best)
John Danks Tex SP (1 and 1A with Thomas Diamond and is younger)
Fernando Nieve Hou SP (talked about in trades)
Joel Zumaya Det SP (if he can stop walking guys he will take advantage of his plus stuff)
Jon Papelbon Bos SP
Philip Hughes NYY SP (furthest away of all of these pitchers, but one of the higher ceilings)
Adam Miller Cle SP (coming back from injury)
Francisco Rosario Tor SP

Drop Hinckley and Aubrey

I would think about dropping Callaspo and Sowers as well, but Sowers is pitching well in AA so far and Callaspo has put up decent numbers.

I would add Andy LaRoche 3B LA, and Francisco Liriano SP Min

If you drop the other two I would add Pedroia and Petit.

Mathis and Quentin are studs, though.

I am assuming that you cannot pick up guys who were just drafted.

Well, Andy Laroche and Anibal Sanchez have both been claimed now.

So, I dropped Aubrey (I'm already set at 1B with Morneau and Dunn) and picked up Liriano.

Also, we can't pick up recent draft picks until they are actually signed.

Jason Kubel is being stashed away on a team's DL.

I am still debating what to do with the rest of my team.

some advice:

pick-up Petit if he's available, he's great

and Tulowitzki and Devine were two of the first to sign this year.. tulowitzki - think bobby crosby playing @ coors ... devine - probly getting called up this year and the braves need a closer

Dustin Pedroia is rising like a bullet. if you don't add him, someone else will

Liriano is a nice pick-up, but if you know the twins at all, he might wind up in the bullpen (at least for the beginning of his career) .. Scott Baker is a better pick because he's gonna be SP and one of the best ones too (severely underrated)

Mathis is a major dissapointemt, Callaspo and Sowers are nothing special .. my 2 cents

I am not completely sold that Pedroia will be any better than Callaspo. And where does a guy like Howie Kendrick fit in? He's put up some impressive numbers in A ball, although he strikes out more than he walks.

Petit worries me because he doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he seems to be doing very well.

In the end, it is up to you. I can't believe in a 12-team league with 6 spots Petit is not on a team. Hinckley is still coming back from injury and I never saw him as a #1 starter. Petit is probably more a #2, but at this point is more of a sure bet than Hinckley.

The Pedroia-Callaspo debate is close. The reason I take Pedroia is he is the clear guy that has no roadblocks in the majors or minors ahead of him. Pedroia has Bellhorn. Callaspo has a combination of Cabrera at short, which would move any SS prospect to second over him. Guys like Wood and Aybar who are way better prospects. And have you seen Howie Kendrick's stats in High A? Granted it is a hitters league and ballpark, but he is blowing Callaspo away. Trust your gut on this one.

I didn't realize that Petit struck out as many batters as he does. Granted it's AA, but it's still impressive.

Honestly, I'm not sold on Kendrick or Pedroia over Callaspo. I just think that Kendrick is going to strike out a ton.

However, I'm going to sit on Callaspo and Sowers for a little while before I make a decision.

I'm going to keep an eye on Alex Gordon and Justin Upton and hope that I can grab one of them when they sign.

Why are you so high on Hinckley??? He's a #3 starter at best and is barely on his way back from an injury. I like Sowers better than Hinckley, although it might be a Callaspo-Pedroia argument there. Didn't realize that Callaspo has Ked 16 times all year. Kendrick's K rate is high, but not extraordinarily so. All that means to me is that he will hit for more power than Callaspo.

Petit is NASTY! The Mets put him on a strict pitch count to save him for the stretch run. All he does is get guys out. And AA is usually where a pitcher with lesser stuff's K rate starts to go down.

K rates for Petit
2003 Rookie Ball 11.55/9
2004 lo and hi A 13.04/9!
2005 AA 10.07/9

It went down this year, but 13/9 is ridiculous. pick the guy up!

And I haven't even mentioned his BB rate

2003 Rookie Ball 1.22/9!
2004 lo and hi A 2.64/9
2005 AA 1.34/9!!! (cut his walks in half at a higher level)

Forgot to mention in my previous post that I did indeed drop Hinckley for Petit.

A new development is that Jeff Niemann has recently become available.

What would you do about Callaspo/Sowers? Would you keep them or drop them? And if you'd drop them, for whom? As it stands, my minor league roster now looks like this.

Carlos Quentin - OF, Ari
Yusmeiro Petit - SP, NYM
Jeff Mathis - C, LAA
Francisco Liriano - SP, Min
Jeremy Sowers - SP, Cle
Alberto Callaspo - 2B, LAA
