I think this is mostly for show or a wakeup call type thing.... At first i thought, they were going to bring pie up to give him a shot. Then i see Pie is hurt so thats not it. I just can NOT see this being a long term thing, and still consider him a(even cheaper now) good buy low candidate, though only in deeeep leagues.

Hairston
From rotoworld, funny in a very sad way:
Jerry Hairston Jr. figures to take over as the Cubs' primary center fielder with Corey Patterson getting sent to the minors.
Then again, that's just a guess. Please don't hold us too responsible if Dusty Baker decides Jose Macias needs more at-bats. If Hairston starts, he'll probably lead off a great deal of the time. He should have quite a bit of fantasy value, if only for the short-term
i suppose this isn't a permenant thing, it's not like they have a crowded OF like cincy does (did). still though... i had to have owned him in two leagues...
Well, the Cubs needed to do something, and hopefully this wakes up Corey Patterson. Not sure what Patterson needs to do, the best thing going for him is that he's only 25, and should improve. However, Patterson needs to draw more walks. His career OBP? UNDER .300. This is unacceptable for a major league baseball player, and he needs to fix this.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
Not to start a "Dusty Baker is an idiot" thread, but I think Dubois has value. His .289 OPB is brutal but he's slugging .472, which isn't bad. And he's been great against lefties: .250/.339/.519, .858 OPS. Why not get him in the lineup everyday against lefties?
Without Derrek Lee, Chicago is looking very bad right now. In the second game of their double-header today, they had Neifi Perez (.287 OBP) hitting 1st and Jose Macias (.288 OBP) hitting 2nd. As a team, they're 2nd-to-last in the NL in OBP.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
Dubois has only performed well enough to PH & it's better for him to play everyday. If he's not hitting for the team.....he's not helping as he is pretty brutal in the field.
1.Roger>Randy this year; 2.New Yankee SP's = BUST! (again); 3. Bernie will cover the least amount of ground of any CF in baseball for 4th straight yr.; 4. Yanks = stuck with Giambi's contract; 5. Loaiza > any SP signed in offseason by Yankees.
