Worst town for a professional sports franchise?

I'm gonna have to go with anywhere in rural Montana or Alaska. Since that is pretty much all of those two states, I'll just be cut to the chase and say that a team in Montana or Alaska would have a hard time making it.

Hartford, CT. I live near there and we are a GREAT college state for sports. I know few pwople who do not closely follow the Huskies. However, every fans alliances lay elsewhere (mostly either NYC or Boston in every major sport).

Also, don't forget about the Devils. Another pathetic showing by NJ residents. Although the Devils fans that do exist are as diehard and hardcore as anywhere else.

But in defense of North Jersey, you also have the Giants. Go Big Blue. ;-D ;-D

So much of Northern New Jersey are fans of New York teams rather than the local teams. I'd easily guess that in the area, there are more Knick fans than Nets and more Rangers/Islanders fans than Devils.

Its difficult for new teams like the Nets and Devils to acquire fanbases in an area so dominated by NY sports team allegiances.

If it wasnt for the Steelers I dont think the city would care one way or another if we had a hockey or baseball team. This city breaths Black and gold, however it is all Steelers.

And the worst city for a professional baseball team has to be Oakland, no contest now that Montreal is out.

MONTRÉAL WAS A GREAT BASEBALL TOWN. the was a lot of baseball fans here in Montréal we were supposed to have a new stadium in downtown, then the expos were sold to Jeffrey Loria, he decided that Montréal doesn't needs a new stadium and cancelled at the tv and radio deals, HE PISSED OFF ALL THE FANS IN MONTRÉAL, so we stopped going to the stadium to see his team but we still like baseball and we're a great baseball town.

and the worst cities are Nashville, Carolina and Washington (at least for hockey, i dunno about the other sports).

Philly is the one that always comes to my mind. They boo Santa Claus and little kids who miss foul balls for God's sake. :-D I guess it would get to me too after 20+ years of sucking or choking when they do somehow find themselves in a position to win. :-B
