Can you believe Javy Lopez?

Postby Guest » Sun Jun 08, 2003 6:15 pm

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I drafted Javy in the 16th round and caught grief from a fellow owner for being a "homer" since I pull for the Braves in the NL. I read in the preseason that he had lost weight. Then I almost blew it by cutting him when he got hurt early in the year. I was watching him on a Sunday and he homered, so on a whim I pick him back up.....WHEW!!! Life is sweet...I am 4-0 since that move!

I love his production..esp since I got it off the waiver wire.. i think the contract season has been a big part of his turnaround..and the fact he new he was one his way out if he didnt step it up

don't we hear that EVERY year???

You might hear that from a lot of Braves fans.. but not from this guy. I pretty much will tell you the truth when i feel if they are gonna do it or not. Although i always HOPE they will win it.. reaility sets in. But this year they have what they never have really seemed to have. Consistent hitting. It's not just Chipper and Andruw doing all the work. The whole team is doing well batting. I do think for the Braves to win it all they may have to get another good SP. But who knows.. Paul Byrd comes back, maybe all they need.

I have Santiago on my team but Lopez is still on the FA list believe it or not! Think I should grab him for trade bait if nothing else?

I had a similar thought about 3 weeks ago. But I quickly realized I had to play Javy and have been dangling Lo Duca as traid bait (haven't been able to work anything out yet though). If he's on the wire you've got to grab him.

Javy has been a godsend for me, as I lost Piazza to the DL recently. In my ten-team league, no one had him, so I nabbed him and SHIT, has he been good for me?! The only downside is that Maddux is sooo important that he has to have his "own" catcher. Blanco takes away about 2 games from Javy every seven or so days.....

I've gotten 9-6-9-.444 since I picked him up. I'll take it!
