The Dodgers placed Cesar Izturis on the 15-day disabled list
due to his strained right hamstring on Tuesday. The move is
retroactive to June 30.
With Izturis on the mend, Oscar Robles will see a majority
of the time at shortstop. He will also be unable to play in
the All-Star game in Detroit.

That means the NL needs a backup SS.
Reyes?

Can things get any worse for the Dodgers? Gagne, Drew, Bradley, Ledee, Valentin, Alvarez, and now Izturis...
It's amazing we're not in last place...oh well, at least Perez is back.

As far as a backup SS goes, Jose Reyes is one of the most overrated players in baseball, and he doesn't belong anywhere near an all-star team.

I agree. I may be a bit biased, but my vote would go to Billy Hall. His average has slid a bit to .276 due to his recent slump, but he still has 13 HR, 36 RBI and has stolen 9 bases. If not Hall, then I'd pick Craig Counsell.

Omar Visquel (SF) it could be the last hurrah for one of the great fielding SS of all time.

The NL already has a SS backup. Felipe Lopez. I think this may open the door for Morgan Ensberg .. who really deserves it.
