Cubs manager Dusty Baker said Thursday that the inflammation in Lee's left shoulder had worsened, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
"He's more sore today than he was [Wednesday],'' said Baker, who was asked if resting Lee through the All-Star break was a possibility. "We'll see how he feels. It's a day-to-day thing. We'll have to wait until [Friday night].'' When informed of Baker's comments, Lee said his shoulder wasn't sorer Thursday, though it did remain sore. He didn't play in the doubleheader against the Braves. Lee, who aggravated the shoulder on a first-inning swing Tuesday, disagreed with any suggestion that he might sit out the three games in Florida before the break or that his All-Star start might be in jeopardy. "I'll play [Friday night] or the next day at the latest,'' Lee said. Consider Lee day-to-day, and don't count on anything from him until after the break.
