This was tough to find players to fill out the ballot. Remember to just focus on the 1980's.
Tom Herr - Playing opposite Ozzie Smith for most of the decade, Tommy Herr was a staple in the Cardinals infield. Herr was a part of 3 World Series teams in St. Louis. In 1985, Herr made the All-Star team and had a career year hitting .302 with 110 RBI and finishing 5th in the NL MVP voting.
Glenn Hubbard - Hubbard was a mainstay in the Braves lineup from 80-87. Glenn made the 1983 All-Star team and helped Atlanta to a NL West title in 1982.
Johnny Ray - Ray was a reliable 2B for Pittsburgh from 1981-87. He led the league in doubles in 83 and 84, winning a Silver Slugger in 83. Johnny made the All-Star team in 1988.
Juan Samuel - The two-time All-Star provided a great glove and bat for the Phillies. Samuel led the league in triples twice. Once in 1983 and again in 1987.
Ryne Sandberg - You can't bring up 2B without mentioning Ryno. A great defensive player who could also hit for power, Sandberg inspired a whole generation of kids who not only wanted to hit the game-winning home run, but turn a solid double play as well. Winner of 7 Gold Gloves, 4 Silver Sluggers, and a member of 6 All-Star teams in the 1980's, the recent HOFer also has a NL MVP(84) to add to that impressive resume.
Steve Sax - Sax was the NL Rookie of the Year in 1982. During his time at 2B for the Dodgers, Sax made 4 All-Star appearances and led the league in singles three different seasons. Sax was instrumental in helping LA win four NL West titles and two World Series titles.
Robby Thompson - Thompson was just a young second basemen getting started in the latter part of the '80s, but he still left his mark. Thompson made the All-Star team in 1988 and led the league in triples in 1989. Robby was a part of the Giants division title in 1987 and NL title in 1989.
Manny Trillo - Before Ryno started winning all those Gold Gloves, there was Manny. Trillo was one of the better defensive 2B in the early 80s, winning the Gold Glove in 1981 and 82. Manny made three All-Star teams in the decade and was NLCS MVP in 1980 en route to a World Series championship with the Phillies.
