Does anyone know what is going on with the Expos closer situation? Tonight, they used Biddle to pitch the 7th and 8th innings and then brought in Ayala for the save opportunity. Is Ayala now the closer?

It would appear so. That caught me by surprise too.

Also, it looks like Timlin could have unseated Lyon as Boston's closer if you look at the results from tonight.

if ayala is indeed the closer where would he rank amoungst closers? I'm curios because I have German in a few leagues and would consider dropping him for ayala (if he's indeed the expos closer) because the expos win much more than detroit.

well Ayala has pitched very well so far this year, so he would be a mid-ranked closer if he does become the closer. I wouldn't drop anyone for him yet though.

It looks as though they used Biddle in a tight situation in the 7th. I see him keeping the closer role, as Ayala is more valuable as a setup man.

I hope it's Ayala's job now. Biddle has been giving up a run in about every other or every one of three of his past few outings. THough he's getting saves, his ERA and WHIP and slowly, continuosly rising. Go Ayala!

Plus Ayala is as good, if not better, than Biddle. If they were in a tight situation they'd turn to their setup guy, and Bibble and Ayala are both right handed pitchers. Looks more like turning over a new leaf.
