Curt Schilling got smoked tonight in his second AAA start, giving up somewhere around 8 hits and i think 6? runs while throwing 93 pitchs thru 5 innings.
He also gave up a homerun to Vlad's little brother
Rehab start numbers mean very little. He's working on his mechanics, getting the kinks out before he returns to the bigs, as well as strength and conditioning (Not that Schill is huge on that latter.) Just because he got lit doesn't mean he's not healthy, or not going to do well.
Agreed with the previous two posters. The same thing happened in his last rehab stint and nothing came of it. He's just getting his arm loose and ready.
The most important number in that entire post is the fact that he threw 93 pitches. That, to me, speaks volumes far greater than any of the others. If I owned him, I'd be thrilled with this start.
Probably just throwing heat and whatever he felt like throwing. Getting roughed up while working on your game in the minors is not something I think Schilling is too worried about.

Schilling touched 96 on the stadium gun during his outing, but that might have been a fluke. His velocity was pretty good in his start last week, but he's not throwing 96 mph with any regularity. After the game, Schilling didn't sound especially optimistic that he'd start for Boston against the Orioles on Saturday. ''We'll meet tomorrow and go from there,'' Schilling said. ''I didn't pitch well. I did a lot of things wrong today. It's frustrating.''
Sounds like another rehab start is likely imo and after the AS break is when we will see Old Ketchup Stain.
