SD and Mninesota are interested in Boone. Seattle is hoping to force a deal before he is released.

Hasn't stopped the Yankees in the past. They could also shift Boone in the DH spot.

As to why the Padres would want him, they are probably looking for veterans to add to their bench for their push for the pennant. Maybe Boone turns it on in time for the playoffs and gets a few key hits that gets them to the WS. Who knows?
