Jul 3 The Tampa Bay Devil Rays placed infielder Alex Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list with a neck injury and recalled Gathright from Triple-A Durham on Sunday. At Durham, the speedy outfielder was batting .305 with a .388 on-base percentage, 31 steals and 46 runs scored in 58 games.

Advice: There isn't a starting job awaiting Gathright with the Rays, but he has some fantasy value because of his basestealing ability. He stole six bases in 19 games with the Rays last season, and three more in six games this season. Nine steals in 25 games and he's not a starter. He did bat .350 in 20 at-bats for Tampa Bay earlier this season.

Seriously, don't use Yahoo for fantasy advice, step away from the website slowly, lol.

Pinella is such a bum...

Bench Hollins and Lee, use Huff at 1B/DH and use Gomes, Crawford and Gathright in the OF. I mean, he knows they aren't going to win anything, so why not get these guys some experience?

I guess there's more than one way to manage yourself out of a job...

Joey Gathright - OF - TB

Joey Gathright went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the Rays' No. 9 hitter today.
Although Gathright was put right into the lineup after being recalled, it doesn't sound as though he'll be an everyday player. ''Having Gathright here is a plus, a guy who can run and come off the bench with some speed,'' manager Lou Piniella said. Gathright is worth owning, but Chris Snelling might be the better pickup in AL-only leagues. Jul. 3 - 5:01 pm et

D-rays should play him for the rest of the month, then trade him for whatever they can get. There is no way he is ever going to start for Tampa. Just get rid of him so he can steal bases for me.

If he cant crack the OF for the Devil Rays, why are you confident he will start for another team?
