Torre stupidly took him out in the 7th inning with 2 men on base and a 1-0 lead and brought on Acevedo, who immeadiately gave up a homer to Eric Karros.

Maybe Steinbrenner will have a temper tantrum and fire him tonight over that decision.

You should change the title of this thread to:
"Juan Acevedo blows Clemen's bid for 300 wins."
Clemens pitched remarkable today. It was the rest of the team that failed him. The batters didn't do their job, Torre pulled him too soon, and the bullpen screws up.
Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.

Pulling him at 84 pitches was pretty ridiculous, they should have let him finish the game. And the fact that Acevedo is allowed to even pitch in the major leagues, let alone for the Yankees, let alone with a game on the line is even more ridiculous.

Clemens is going to have to come in in relief to get that damned win.

Funny, my TV set showed Clemens putting the first two runners on for Karros to knock in. Guess there was something wrong with my reception.
Hope that jerk ends his career at 299.
