Eric Bynes - Losing Playing Time???

Postby Leiter Fan » Sat Jun 07, 2003 1:59 pm

Yahoo is reporting that since Byrne's hitting streak is now over and his bat has cooled off somewhat, his playing time is going to start to decrease. Has anyone heard anything about this? Last I heard, he was to be the everyday leadoff guy - has that changed now, or is this just a prediction from some guy at Yahoo?

Where'd you see that? I saw the note about his hitting streak being stopped, but that was it.

I picked Byrnes up for my mid season league, so I hope he starts.

This just popped up in my Assistant Manager notes for my Yahoo team today:

Byrnes, Eric (LF,RF,CF-Oak) Jun 6, 2003
News: Before Friday's game, Byrnes had one hit in his last 18 at-bats, dropping his average to .321.
Fantasy Spin: Like his batting average, expect his playing time to start decreasing as well. (Jeff Paur/SportingNews.com)

I think this speaks volumes about Byrnes PT.

3 A's players will start both games of todas double-header.

Tejada, Chavez, and Byrnes.

Take from that what you will, but I don't hear anything locally about him losing PT. Until I see it, I believe he has become too valuable for the A's to sit very often.

2-4 with another SB in the first game. The A's only got 1 run, but they start a 12 game homestand on tuesday. 1-3 with 2 runs scored in the night cap. The A's didn't score much, but Byrnes is still doing his part.
