I read that the Marlins have had discussions about sending AJ Burnett and Mike Lowell to the Orioles. I had heard about Burnett but this was the first I'd heard of Lowell being included.
I am just about to drop Lowell but wondered if this is something that may give him some more value. I know he'd have to adjust to a new league, and I don't even know if he'd play every day if Mora was healthy, but you never know.
With Mora it's doubtful Lowell would be an everyday player, unless Mora were moved say to the outfield. I don't see Mora being up-rooted, although he's been battling a hammy injury---I don't know how long he'll be out from that.
Mora isn't locked into third base. He's played outfield, shortstop and 1st. If they move Mora to 1st, Raffy to DH and Lowell on third, it can make sense, but what are they going to give up for those two?

Yeah I don't know. I know the Marlins are after young pitching, bullpen help, and a LH hitting OF, so I would think something would be built around Hayden Penn (or there's another young guy, don't know his name off the top of my head), maybe Jorge Julio, maybe Bigbie or Newhan. I don't really know who they'd be getting, I just heard there were discussions.

I agree that Lowell probably wouldn't be a starter unless injuries are keeping others from playing. Lowell is clearly not the same hitter anymore and I have a feeling he may be hiding an injury. That being said, maybe a change of scenary will jump start him but I seriously think he is done for at least the 05 season.

Lowell would have to move to 1st while I could see Penn Julio and Newhan as the three that went in exchange for those two and I think it would be a great help to the Os and would improve their chances of making the playoffs especially after watching Penn serve it up to the Indians yesterday
