In a move that makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, the Yankees acquired OF Ruben Sierra from Texas this morning in exchange for minor league OF Marcus Thames. Just the fact that I am forced to mention the words SIERRA and YANKEES in the same sentence again makes me nauseous. Sierra was batting .263 with 3 HRs and 12 RBIs in 133 ABs for the Rangers this year, and the move is an attempt to bolster a suddenly weak bench. While a left-handed hitter was needed, it's hard to believe the organization did not have better options. Sierra's presence can mean only bad things for the Yankees, and it remains to be seen how much short-term fantasy value he will have. It’s no secret that Rivera is struggling in LF (12 for 49), and he could also steal some time from Zeile at DH. Stay faaaaaaar away.

ruben sierra is bad for baseball and i have no idea why the yanks would want to do harm to thier clubhouse like this. i dislike the yankees but i wouldnt wish ruben sierra upon my worst enemies.
