They don't want every player. Apparently they're not interested in Jay Payton, Jose Mesa, and the Big Hurt.

Don't take that list too literally. Most of those players are rumored to be getting traded throughout the whole league. Just rumors...

It looks like they just put every player that is or has been rumored to be traded in a list and said the Yankees want them because they know the Yankees will make a move, and one of those players will probably he heading to New York. Id say Kotsay or Willy Mo are top candidates in my mind, and Schmidt and Clemens are always possible on the pitching side.

I think Si is right, Im sure Cashman is getting his hands in on every possible deal out there because the Yanks are limited in what they can move to obtain these guys. Im sure he's hoping that somewhere he can make a move to improve the team without parting with their best 2 trade pieces.
If you found my advice helpful, please help me

I wonder how long it will be till Geroge pays the other team for their players. "I'll trade you 20 million for Kotsay" ;-)

Seriously.

They may end up with one or two guys from that list, of guys who have been rumored to be heading elsewhere all year. They just list NYY, because they are perennial deadline buyers, and are heading into early panic mode at the thought of missing out on the playoffs.
