The score has nothing to do with whether the golf is good or not. And the Open the week before didn't have most of the field completely collapse on the final day, at least that's what I gathered from watching NBC's lead in and the hour and a half I watched. I assume you weren't watching, but Tiger and Campbell on the back nine Sunday was extremely compelling, at least to golf fans. That's one of the things I really like about the US Open. They don't try to appease the masses by having a birdie-fest, rather defending par and testing every facet of your game tee to green and most importantly between your ears They strive to -- and almost always succed in -- determining the best golfer, not just the one that sucked the least on Sunday.
hmmm....and I thought that the winner holed out from the trap to get a birdie on the 18th hole to win it - a hole that had not given up a birdie the entire tournament.
We should have a poll for the most annoying things about watching golf on TV. Is it:
1) the announcers whispering everything?
2) the jerk that screams out "you're the man!!" as soon as Tiger hits his tee shot?
3) the jerk that yells out "get in the hole!!!" as soon as someone hits a putt?
4) the fact that it should just be called Tiger TV since he gets all of the coverage even if he's not in contention?
I'm not a big golf fan.
