I say the Yanks are contenders........all they have to do is make the playoffs and the Yankees will come through......I think that Jeter can turn it around and I think their Pitchign will improve slightly by the end of the year.
as orakana said, the white sox should make the playoffs. they haven't really been playing above their head and seem to have all the pieces to keep a slightly slower pace up. their starting pitching is solid up and down, bullpen is servicable, they have good power guys in konerko, thomas (while he lasts), and dye. their infield is fine with iguchi performing well.
i think oakland are pretenders... the pitching behind harden is shaky and the offense has just been way too inconsistent. if they score 16 runs for guys other than harden who obviously only need a few runs to work with, then we'll see... they've been riding a hot streak but i don't think they're strong enough to pass both texas and anaheim in that division.
D'backs - Contenders. In a weak NL West they should be right there at the end, esp if they get healthy again and the rotation after Webb shakes out. Thier bullpen is the biggest worry but I think they will have just enough to be in it.
Well, I'd like to say that they are contenders, they made ya think at the begining of the year with Percival and Maggs but other than that they've fallen by the wayside and unloaded Urbina probably didn't help the cause.
Other than Bonderman they really don't have anything right now, and since they are worse than the Indians and we've already said they are pretenders, I guess that goes for the Tiges as well.
I don't think we've done the cubs yet, or the natioanls yet...take your pick on either of those...
I think that if the Astros make a move for a Dunn or someone like that which they may according to some reports then they could make a second half run and make them a contender.
I think that Angels are a contender for the ALCS possibly with that offense they have, I just don't know if they have the pitching outside of Colon. They could have a hard time against the White Sox or Twins in the Division Series.
The Cards, I'm going to say their pitching could be suspect but I've been thinking that all along and it hasn't had a problem yet, so if they can get that pitching they could be in the World Series again.
