Penny has done well his last few outings, both losses. Today he gave up just 4 hits against the angels.
With the dodgers hitting like sammy sosa right now, I probably would still not start him going against good teams... but anyone think he will have a really, really good second half, especially when the dodgers bats get hot s?
I sure hope so. I have him on both of my main teams, and I've been happy with the results so far. If he gets better, hey, I'll take that too!
On one of those two teams, I traded Mauer, Eaton and Aquino for A.Jones, Penny and Kendall (this was still pre-season). For a while there, it wasn't looking too good, especially when I had to cut Kendall, but after Andruw's 23 home runs and Penny solid outings, I'm not complaining at all!

I think Penny will be fine, but he'll suffer from poor run support much of the time. Still worth owning, though.
He's actually not a sabermetric nightmare. His K's are down, but his K/BB is still almost 4/1, which is a VERY nice ratio and actually a bit higher than his career numbers.
I think Penny projects to have a nice 2nd half, but that low K rate makes him kind of a liability in fantasy leagues. I still like him as a good 3rd or 4th starter...
I'm supposed to be on vacation! Gotta stay away from the computer!!!

i've actually held onto him for most of the year, and have been very pleased with the results. seeing as we count k/bb he has made up for his lack of total K's, and i figure that the wins will come eventually...
