time to cut bait...

Rotoworld:
Kelvim Escobar will undergo arthroscopic surgery sometime next week to shave down the bone spur behind his right elbow and is expected to miss at least two months.
Escobar must have still been feeling pain following yesterday's simulated game. The decision was made following an examination by team physician Dr. Lewis Yocum. Depending on how he does over the next few weeks, Ervin Santana could be in the rotation until September. The Angels might look to acquire a starting pitcher before the deadline.

That is OK, in the one pathethic league I own Escobar I have had the following:

Schilling (DL most of the year)
Escobar (DL most of the year)
Hudson (DL, underperform)
Benitez (DL most of the year)
Thomson (DL most of the year)
Lyon (DL most of the year)
Borowski (Drafted as a closer...DL...now garbage)

I drafted a team of Schilling, Hudson, Carlos Zambrano, Escobar and Thomson figuring I had a decent staff...absolutely HORRIBLE. Worst staff I have probably ever had in any league and it is basically a lost cause.

My current active 9 is laughable:
C. Zambrano
Maddux
Loaiza
Silva
D. Wells
Brazoban
Reitsma
Turnbow
T. Jones

I am startiing 2 pitchers I originally drafted.

Aside from Schilling and Hudson, that looks like a group of guys I wouldn't have had any problem cutting if I needed a DL spot for a quality player.

I just laughed everytime I heard somebody say they had DL woes and Joe Borowski was taking up one of their spots.

Lyon has red flags around him too, and we've known for a while he was done until after the break.

Benitez is out a while, and his return seems a big question.

Escobar has been worthless since his first DL trip.

Thomson is a back-end of the rotation strarter, basically a guy you could replace via the FA pool.
