What is the deal with Joe Blanton?

He is heating up on the waiver wire and very intriguing but he's a little too mysterious for me. What are your thoughts on him?

He's quietly been getting the job done in Oakland this month. I think he is more spot start material at the moment, or a pick up for a 2 start week in H2H leagues.

I wouldn't think he's really roster worthy in a 10-12 team league, since you probably don't want to trot him out there regularly. I don't expect him to rack up W's or K's (not a top offense behind him, or a high K guy). He probably won't hurt your WHIP or ERA too often, and getting the W and 3-4 K's is about the best you can expect.

Yeah, I know his ERA and WHIP aren't that stellar overall but it's mostly from a rough May (and 2 ERA/WHIP crushing efforts in May). He seems to be settled down, and I suspect the worst is behind him. The team seems to be playing well to boot.

I guess if you believe in the law of averages, his W streak should continue. He didn't get a W in his first 10 starts, but is 4-1 in his last 5 starts.
