Complete game. 3 ER, 7 hits, 5 Ks, no walks.
I'm really starting to think he could be a great back-of-the-rotation guy for the rest of the year, occassionally benching him against the really tough teams.
Thoughts?

hit the nail on the head. bench him against teams like boston, but otherwise he's a solid start.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Picked him up in time for this beauty. He's in my 4th spot till Odalis returns, then he might keep the 5th. I'm a believer.

I really think this guy could have a nice second half. Kind of like Harden's second half last season. Take a look at harden's splits from last year then look at haren's stats now

'04 Pre-all star Harden
G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA
16 16 3 5 0 0 0 91.2 89 51 46 7 48 91 4.52 1.49 .254

'05 Haren so far
15 15 5 7 0 1 0 95.0 88 51 42 8 32 73 3.98 1.26 .242

We all know how good harden finished up. ;-)

Well let's not go comparing Danny Haren to Rich Harden just because they put up similar crappy stats in a half season. Anyway, Haren's been nice, and yes if your staff isn't that strong use him to play the match-ups. Don't forget he is very young though, and this will be his first real season in the majors. He's thrown over 100 innings so far, and may very well tire. Also, incosistency will be a problem.. just a warning.

Maybe a good time to try and deal this kid if you can..
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I dont have a link to the article and don’t remember which writer it was. One of the rotoworld guys plugged him a week or so ago though.

I’m learning the hard way, ala missing my chance to pick their plugs up, to trust those guys.
