Like that would work for more than a minute? And like the smell of dank and rotting vegetables in jis hat in the summer heat would not be noticed?

You will notice that no one is in the seats though... Probably due to the smell of rotting cabbage and sweat.

isn't "kimchi" bottled cabbage with some sort of seafood in there? my dad used to eat that stuff all the time.

edit: gross understatement on my part. basic ingredients of kimchi are as follows:
Green vegetables including cabbage
Red chili peppers
Cucumbers
Korean lettuce
Green onions
Oysters
Radishes
Mustard leaf
Dropwort
Leeks
Garlic
Ginger
Pickled fish paste
yeah, yes...
