It's not like i drafted all 3. I had to trade to get Giambi. And it was a big trade. And luckily i did the trade at the time. I traded Delgado,Bernie,Klesko for Giambi,Berkman. If i had not done that deal i'd be hurting even more with Bernie,Klesko! Did the trade about a wk and a half before Bernie went down.
If you can get Ichiro and Green for Vlad, I'd jump all over it at this point. Ichiro has the possibility of leading the league in average, runs and steals, making him extremely valuable in a 5x5 league, and he more than replaces Vlad's steals (and he may not be stealing much this year anyway when he comes back). Green has yet to heat up, so likely has the best part of his year ahead of him. His power comes close to replacing Vlad's power, so I think you are getting two solid OF's and losing nothing really.
You can't ethically go and trade him hoping the other guy doesn't know he's going on the DL. If you can get decent value for him with the other guy knowing that he is injured, I would do it.
I'm a doc as well (not the benevolent kind) and I wouldn't be so hasty about dropping Vlad. There are different degrees of herniation and with rest and proper rehab, he can resume normal duties within a few weeks. Of course if he needs surgery then you're screwed. He still won't be 100% since back injuries have a tendency to flare up on occasion (think Pudge) but it's not as severe as say, a torn knee/elbow ligament.
