Possible Targets?

Well, the Yankees suck, but instead of taking a year off to rebuild, they'll go trade for some studs as always.

So who are potential targets and what is their chance of actually getting them?

Names that come to mind are obviously Roger Clemens, Jason Schmidt and Mark Kotsay.

Kotsay would be a very good fit in my opinion. He can play tremendous defense and he's not another 40 homer, 150 K guy. He hits for average and without looking at the numbers, I think he's a pretty good on-base guy.

I don't really want Clemens because of his age, as well as the fact that they'll have to give up Wang or Cano if not both to get him.

I don't NEED them to get Schmidt, but if they can get him without giving up the two kids I mentioned, I'd probably do it, and I have a feeling they will. Of course, the fact that I have Schmidt on my fantasy team makes me drool at the prospect of him in pinstripes, but we'll have to wait and see.

Any other big names you think they WILL trade for, or simply that you would LIKE them to trade for? Let's hear 'em...

Lots of OF options to go along with Kotsay. Juan Pierre would be intriguing, to say the least...

I'd be so pissed if the Yanks got Kotsay... he alone would make all their pitchers much, much better. Having Bernie or Womack out there is killing that team.

How about Preston Wilson? He'd be a salary dump.

I really, really want Kotsay on the team. Don't like Preston.

Washington probably won't be in the business of selling but Nick Johnson is a free agent at the end of the year and I'd like to bring him back. Trading Sheffield wouldn't kill me, if you could get some good prospects for him.

I'm hoping next year the team looks something like:

C- J. Posada
1B- N. Johnson
2B- R. Cano
3B- A. Rodriguez
SS- D. Jeter
LF- H. Matsui
CF- M. Kotsay
RF- ???
DH- B. Williams

I'd revamp the entire staff if I could but that's probably not possible. I've wanted to get AJ Burnett in pinstripes for years, but with all the idiot moves they've made, there's nowhere to put him.

If I had it my way, I'd dump Wright, Pavano and possibly Randy too.

In right field I'd love for them to find a good roleplayer-type of guy. They don't need a 40-homerun guy to play right. I'd rather have a guy who will get on base, play good defense, and be more of a line drive-type hitter. Yeah, I have Paul O'Neill in mind and I know they won't get a guy like him but I can dream can't I?

I think the Yanks need some more speed......someone like Crawford would be so awesome......
