Homered again today, yet he is so rarely mentioned here.
Currently leading the NL in RBI, one behind Andruw for the homer lead.
8 stolen bases.
A respectable .280 average that he has raised about 30 points in the last 6 weeks or so.
Oh, and he's a second-half monster. Last year after the break:
.322 average, 20 homers, 49 RBI
At that pace, added to what he's done already, he's a top-five outfielder.
He was a sixth-rounder this year. Next year, you might have to go after him in the second.
Am I nuts?
"All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others." — Douglas Adams (1952-2001)
Being a Chi Sox fan I've always been biased towards this guy. You forgot to mention that he can steal bases if need be. He's got great speed for a guy his size. I dont think he goes over looked. I just think he's undervalued. Big difference imo.
PS- D Dot Lee yanked 2 out of the park. Giving him 22 on the season. 1 ahead of Andruw and 2 ahead or Sir Carlos.
Ive thought the exact same thing the last week or so. Lee is never mentioned at the cafe. One of the top players in MLB this year and a definite first round guy next year if he keeps this pace up. He is on a pace for 46 HR, 149RBI, 19SB, an 90 runs. I would say that is definite first round material. He can replace a guy like Beltran, RJ, Beltre, Helton, etc without much hesititaion. I thought he may be in for a career year and drafted him in every league without second thought.

Yeah, considering that he has historically performed much better after the all-star break, one might consider trying to "buy low" on Carlos Lee. Heh. He could put up some freaky numbers this year...
I have been trying to 'sell high' on him all year and am simply not getting any takers. BeLIEEEEVE me i am NOT upset about it AT ALL.... It is almost like he is DARING me to trade him. Everytime i even conSIDER it he has a monster game. It DOES make me wonder however what to think about these types of players. Players who generally start slow and have greattt secon halves. The main two that come to mind are Derrick and Carlos Lee. It will be intresting to see what happens to these two in the 2nd half. If they can have their typical monster 2nd halves they could have unbLEIVABLY monster seasons, including a near miss Triple crown for Derrick ironically enough broken up by Carlos(or pujols). I dont expect that to happen but it would be intresting to say the least. I am just hoping they dont collapse in the 2nd half. It reminds me of playing golf......some days i drive like crap but tend to putt pretty darn well. Then the ONE day in 10 when my driving DOES look good, you can go ahead and write it down, my putting goes to crap.
