He's not back to last years form but he is getting there. His velocity is improving every game and I expect him to have a great second half.

I watched him pitch last night and he seemed to have his A game. Maybe it has something to do with the Christian Fellowship meeting he participated in Tuesday night. Anyway, aside from the pitch he threw about 12 feet high in the 9th inning, I thought he could have pitched a complete game shutout. I may have sold too soon, but if Smoltz keeps it up, I won't regret it as much.

Hang on to him for a few more starts if you can afford to.

I guess that makes me lucky since I have Smotlz and just aquired Schmitt off the waiver wire before his last two starts. I don't think he's totally back to the pitcher he was last year but he's definately turning around whatever problem he had or he's decided to pitch rather than throw due to his drop in velocity.

Guys keep mentioning back to last year. I think you mean two years ago or before the allstar break. At the end of last year, Brett Tomko was the Giants ace. Schmidt kinda fell apart towards the end. And about those couple of pitches around 95, one of them was about 12 feet high. But, he does appear to be improving.

Aside from the bad start, I had to trade Schmidt because I overpaid for him in a supplemental auction. His original owner dropped out of the league just before the beginning of the season. This is a dynasty keeper league and I paid $50 out of a $400 budget for him. There was no way I could afford to keep him next year at that price. Smoltz and Marquis, should I keep them, could be worth that $50.
I'm still a big Schmidt fan. Just got out while the gettin was good.

Can someone please remind me what Santana's numbers were at this time last year?

Yea, I can see how people in a cap scenerio would want to unload Schmitt, I'm sure he'd be overpaid. I'm lucky because we don't have a cap in the league I'm in and its a keeper so you can really stack up on "high priced" talent without having to worry.

Total Point System

Pitchers:
Joe Nathan
Tim Hudson
John Smoltz
Freddy Garcia
Jason Schmitt
Bartolo Colon
Keith Foulke
Brad Lidge
Brandon Webb
Victor Santos
Andy Pettite
Bronson Arroyo
Jesse Crain

Offense
C - Victor Martinez
C - Brian Schnieder
1B - Travis Hafner
2B - Marcus Giles
SS - David Eckstein
3B - Chone Figgins
1B/3B - Darin Erstad
2B/SS - Derek Jeter
OF - Manny Ramirez
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
OF - Grady Sizemore
OF - Jaque Jones
OF - Brady Clark

Bench
3B/SS - Aaron Hill
OF - Vernon Wells
DL - Chipper Jones

There's no way I could afford that in a salary cap league.
