Corey Patterson (OF) ChC asked Cubs manager Dusty Baker to move him into the leadoff spot on Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Baker said he was "pleasantly surprised" by the request and moved Patterson into that role Wednesday, where the hitter went 0-for-5.
Even if he stops trying to hit HRs, moving to leadoff doesn't help his brutal pitch selection.
I think it is a good thing. It is all mental with him. Hopefully he is making a conscious effort to act like a leadoff guy. 0-5... not so great. Lets see what happens.
corey reminds me of willie mays hayes in major league 2, so much potential to be a top 5 lead off hitter, but yet he swings like a 300 pound guy in a softball game

I heard Ron Santo trying to explain this during the radio broadcast last night and by the time he was done, I felt even stupider than when I started listening. It took him about 3 hitters to explain this and I still had no clue what he was saying til I read this just now. Thanks for recapping.

As a Cardinal fan I think this is a good thing too. Having Patterson bat leadoff can only hurt the Cubs.
