I'm gonna have to rely on one of my buddies to run my team when I head off to Army OCS in August.....during the bloody playoffs!

I hope he's not as ethically challenged. :-D

Hmm, is that supposed to be exercise or exorcise? ;-7

Anyway, good to hear you're playing it straight up, junkie.
I've never been involved in something like that, though after moving to a different state I had a rival draft my football team in a league that won't enter the 21st century and go online with it. If anything, he did better than I'd hoped.

I did this in one of my leagues and played it straight. The worst thing was I forgot to start Pavano for him in the game he got pounded by the Red Sox (the 17-1 game.) I ended up losing ERA and WHIP by the slightest of decimals and lost the week 9-8 :-P

The real question here is. . .can you kick his ass?

If yes, proceed how you like
If no, you'd better do a damn good job. :)

You have to play it straight, but it is nice to get some tips from the manager ahead of time, so you know how he plays certain situations. Something as simple as which order he prefers his bench guys getting into the game. I do this with a friend of mine whenever I am on vacation for a week.

Yeah the poor guy could be in iraq next month, and you want to bench his whole team to grab an easy win?

Now, if the guy was a lawyer. Hell yes. :P
