maybe I am wrong, but I thought I heard it is possible for him to return by late august. He is supposed to be coming along better than expected and was a possibility by august where Hoffman is out for the year now. Maybe I heard wrong

Cbs sportsline reported a mid august return for Nevin last week so I picked him up & stashed him in my reserves.

Phil Nevin, on the DL with a dislocated shoulder, took grounders at third base and made throws across the diamond yesterday. Nevin is planning to return sometime between Aug. 11-15. ''I don't think it's a question of 'if' anymore,'' he said. He's regained 100 percent of motion in his shoulder, and will begin hitting off a tee around June 10.

i am not sure what he will be capable of, but it seems certain he will return at the end of the year. of course, a couple weeks ago it seemed certain hoffman would return.

Padres manager Bruce Bochy said the club hasn't decided what position Phil Nevin will play when he returns in August.
Unless Sean Burroughs stops hitting, it's safe to assume that Nevin won't come back as a third baseman. Left field is probably the best bet, which is bad news for Rondell White.

Do you really think Nevin is gonna have a fantasy impact this season?? The Pads will be 40 games out by then, so they're not gonna rush him or overuse him. I guess if you have an open IR spot, then get him, but I guarantee that you'll need that spot before he gets back.
