That's what this made me think of as well. Until I actually hear he's throwing again I'm not going to bother stashing him. Too many things can go wrong, or rather too many things have to go right for him to get back in time to make a difference. Maybe if I had 4 DL spots, but alas, I do not.
How long does it normally take to come back from a ruptured hammy?

Like the Giants will be in it in Sept to even want to push Benitez out there? I can't imagne this is anything but wishful thinking unless the Giants plan on trading for a closer in the near future and want to appear not to be as desperate.

I am sure AB will be closing when he can pitch again. I will be picking him up on some of my teams in the next few days.

I would, now that it was announced that Gagne is having Tommy John again.

Now I would
Actually I think I'd rather own Rick Ankiel than Eric Gagne at this point...

Has he started throwing yet?

I Didn't expect this:
DATE: 06-21-2005
STATUS: 15-Day DL SKINNY: Benitez (torn hamstring) may soon go from throwing off flat ground to throwing off a mound, according to the Giants' official site.

Latest News

Armando Benitez, who underwent surgery in May to repair a torn hamstring, is about seven to 10 days away from throwing off a mound.
Benitez isn't expected back until the second half of August or September.

What stage in recovery is throwing off the mound? It sounds to me to be pretty close to returning, but obviously it's not, based on the projections... I am a Tyler Walker and Benitez owner, so I guess it doesn't matter too much when he comes back, but I"m still interested.
