Armando Benitez, RP SF
News: Closer Armando Benitez, recovering from surgery to repair two ruptured hamstring tendons, might be ready to throw from a mound in a week to 10 days -- a huge step considering the operation was in early May. Benitez returned to Miami for about five days for what trainer Stan Conte called a "mental break." He will rejoin the team next week.
Analysis: Wow. This is newsworthy, because Benitez had been believed to be shut down for the season. If he can prove healthy enough to throw off the mound after the All-Star break, he could return in August. If he was dropped in your league, consider stashing him away if you have available DL or reserve spots. He could close some games during the Fantasy Baseball playoff period, or in crunch time in Rotisserie leagues.
