Ok let's get to work.

First off does your league start 2 C's? If not then drop Estrada. Varitek is the best Catcher in game fantasy wise right now you don't need a backup and Estrada has almost no value tradewise.

Secondly how many DL spots does your league allow? One thing I see time and time again is people allow DL players to pile up and effectively waste VALUABLE bench spots. Even if you aren't using the hot FA you snagged off the list you are at least keeping your opponent from using him against you! On your team I count 3 DL players. Two of whom Loretta and Bonds it looks more and more likely aren't coming back this year. I'd drop em both.

Thirdly I'd play Counsell at your 2B spot. He's not that good but he's playing well so far this year. I like him better then Grudzielanik and I think you need the space so I'd drop Grudz. Randa is a serviceable 3B but I'd check the Waiver Wire and see if I could find a better replacement Bill Hall - Mil and Polanco - Det are two guys you might find on Waivers that could shore up your IF at 2B and 3B in case you get an injury or one of your guys start to tail off. Young is a safe play at SS and you are fine there.

Fourth. Your OF. Only one word can describe your OF. Trainwreck.
Holliday and Bonds are on DL. I'm not even sure Holliday warranted a roster spot before his DL stint but with the Colorado effect he gets a slight maybe. Regardless I'd drop em right now. You need a LF since your two best are on DL and you only have Millar. That's horrible. There has to be a better one on FA list somewhere. Sizemore was a solid pickup. Nice job on that. JD Drew is ok and Giles will be consistent for you this year.

Fifth. Looking at your team I'm guessing your an Indians fan correct? You're SP is full of Indians and you've got a few hitters as well. First rule in a draft. Don't draft your Home Team because you like the players!!! It doesn't work. Always try and get the best player available. That's why you are in the position you are in now. You drafted your Indians. Some have turned out to be good picks like Lee and Hafner is heating up but others there had to be far better players available.

Sixth. Your SP isn't that great but its' serviceable. You've got Oswalt as your anchor, Lee's pitching well, Sabathia was doing fine too until his last few outings. Rusch, Santos and Estes though not great options can help you here and there. Your main weakness is the lack of a real top pitcher or even a 2nd tier pitcher to compliment Oswalt. To deal with your RP will need to see your categories. Does your league count Holds? Right now if it doesn't Tavarez and Marte don't hold much value. Branzoban is really your only closer at this point. Try and look at the waiver wire. See if Walker - SF, Fuentes - Col, MacDougal - KC, Duchscherer - Oak, Reitsma - Atl are still there. All are closers who might still be found on the WW.

If you want help with the players you need to add copy and paste the top 10 or 15 Batters and Pitchers in here and we'll try and tell you who to add and drop. Also post your scoring categories. It always helps when evaluating a team.

OK, lets see if we can help

Postby CitizensHellPark » Wed Jun 22, 2005 1:48 am

Ill start small , is A. Hill{TOR} on WW? He is eligible at 3b /ss and hitting .382 after 102 at bats and gettin RBI's and runs . He would be my first thought. I dont like the other available 3 baggers. Grab Aquino and dump Marte, is also a gamble but you need Saves. He is next in line for saves in Ari. Is John Lackey available ? He K's people and has an excellent bullpen to pull up his win total. jonny Gomes of tampa hit his 4th homer in 50 at bats{of/Dh}, he is another guy i might try if im in the cellar. Magglo ordonez is a guy to KEEP An EYE ON{ as soon as hes activated watch his stats and pounce!} Keep Bonds! until you hear definitively he done you cant drop him. One cool thing is you are learning to play from behind and you need to develop a feel for your team and when to make changes. sometimes leagues are won by moves/trades not made, then by making moves in a panic. Theres really alot of work here so ill print out your roster and think about it some more. try to compile a list of all players mentioned to you on this forum and get a consensus. see if 2 or more members agree on picking up the same player. Oh and drop holliday in any OF move first. I wish you had written in sooner, alot of guys{wily Mo,hall,Weeks, polanco,} are already of the board and could've helped you.

my two cents

Postby cfkel33 » Wed Jun 29, 2005 1:03 pm

i would try to package a couple of your pitchers for a front line guy. oswalt is good but you need another ace. let's see if someone in your league will take sabathia/lee and radke off your hands for a guy like mark prior or jake peavy. your hitting is pretty bad too. first off, why don't you pick up jason lane and bobby crosby. they are pretty good at their positions.
