More Padres trivia...an in-depth question here...

During the Padres National League Title 1998 season, the San Francisco Giants held the division lead for six days. The Padres, however, reclaimed the lead during an 11-game winning streak. During one of those games the Giants held a late three-run lead, only to see it disipate following a crucial eighth-inning error. The Padres ended up winning in the ninth, 7-6. My question is, who had the throwing error that I speak of, and who was it that couldn't handle the short-hop at first-base?
