if you had to choose one from here on out, who would it be. i think that with b-rob's injury concerns and his power and SB's going down because of those it becomes pretty close...
Utley's on my team, and I traded Roberts way back when for Sori, so I'm hoping its Utley, but I confess to not knowing much about him. Roberts just seems to have dropped off the radar, and Utley seems to be a hot pick now. Now due to Roberts' injury and faith/hopefulness in my team, I'll go with Utley.
I did it a long time ago and it has been beautiful ever since. It started me on my way from 79 pts in last, and brought me to 118 in fourth. (Along with getting Tejada and Abreu for Santana, c. Guillen, and Ichiro (befor ehe slumped))
Especially if Roberts continues to miss time due to these nagging injuries, I like Utley going forwards. He crushes righties, is getting more comfortable vs lefties, hits for very good Power at 2B, hits in a potent lineup full of guys who spend their free time on base (Rollins, Lofton, Abreu, Burrell, Thome), and is even swiping a bag here and there. Roberts went wild with 26 RBI in April, but had just 7 in May and has only 6 in June so far. His .300+ AVG should keep up, however, while Utley's is more at risk if he never masters batting vs Lefties. Still though, I think at this point Roberts will garner something better as trade bait, and Utley could be Top 3, definitely Top 5 2Bs from here on out.
I wouldn't give up on B-Rob yet, though its difficult to say how he'll respond to the injuries hes having the last few weeks. Utleys a stud though -- whos gonna be better then him this year? Besides Soriano, B-Rob and maybe Kent? Even if you throw Giles in Utleys top 5. I'd guess he finishes top 3.
If you need SB more than HR, then I'd go with BRob - if not, then Utley.
Utley's average will dip a little now that he's hitting against LHP full-time, but the power and RBI should be there. As for SB, I wouldn't write off Roberts yet.

Tough call since I really don't know how Roberts will respond to the injuries. He seemed to be coming back down to Earth after an absolutely torrid start, even before the injury, so I wouldn't count on him to be super-stud anymore.
Utley is the player-du-jour but I'm just not sold on the guy. He should end up with solid numbers for 2B, but I think he's another player whose actual performance won't match the hype.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
pretty much simple as that. i suppose you could argue about b rob's power, but utley definitely has more. i'd personally rather have utley because i think b rob's best is behind him this season and you can definitally get more in a trade for roberts than you can for utley at this point.
