any word on Street's status for this wk?

Postby larrywilson » Sun Jun 19, 2005 10:49 am

Any word on H.Street's status for the upcoming week. He said he tweaked his hammy, but they didn't say how long he's expected to be out for. Anyone heard anything, as I was planning on starting him in wkly league this coming week.

I believe Duke will get the majority of the saves (got another one today) but Rincon might get a chance due to matchups since he is a lefty

From Yahoo article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns

OAKLAND: With RHP Huston Street unavailable to close because of a slight left hamstring strain, A's manager Ken Macha might go with a bullpen-by-committee approach the next few days. ``If you ask me who's going to close the game, I'll know when we get there,'' he said. ``Most likely it will be (Justin) Duchscherer, but (Ricardo) Rincon can also close, so it depends on the situation.''

It looks like Duchscherer will probably get most of the save opps until Huston returns.

Stats, Inc. News and Notes:

Jun 20: After tweaking his left hamstring before Oakland's Saturday contest against Philadelphia, Street missed the rest of the A's-Phils series. Justin Duchscherer picked up saves on both Saturday and Sunday in place of Street.

Advice: Look for Duchscherer to get the save opportunities early this week, as well, as Street is a good bet to miss the A's four-game series in Seattle, which kicks off Monday. Street has been solid when healthy, going 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA and four saves in 29 appearances for Oakland.

I think that Duchscherer will get the majority of the saves in his abscence, but look for a committee situation as lefty/righty matchups warrant.
