Schmidt

Just read Gammo's article saying how the Sox have had contact with SF about Schmidt. What do you guys think?

I think if his velocity remains down and he continues through this dead arm phase I want no part of him. If he pitches like he did against Detroit though, he'd be a nice piece to have.

Schilling, Schmidt and Clement would be a tough trio to go against :-?

I agree that would be a great rotation but unless we can literally "buy low" on Schmidt, I dont want him. He has been dominant before, but this year, his performance has scaered me as an owner of his. I dealt him as I want nothing to do with him, nor do I want the Sox to have anything to do with him until I see he can string some solid outings together.

Career NL pitcher with history of arm trouble and recent marked loss in velocity? No thanks.

It might be close to impossible to deaql for a sure thing this year, so the interest in Schmidt is somewhat understandable. Still, it seems as if there are a handful of better risks on the market who could be had for a lower price...

NEWS ON SCHMIDT!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby jzfran » Sun Jun 26, 2005 7:16 pm

According to today's Hartford Courant
"There are rumors that the Red Sox are close to acquiring Giants pitcher Jason Schmidt"
Who would we be giving up??? Anyone have any ideas? I think Schmidt would be a very good pitcher for the Sox.

Crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't be heartbroken if the Sox got Schmidt.

I agree with the statement, and it's the reason I hope the Yankees don't make a deal for him.
