Kent's trade value

Postby ViperGJG » Wed Jun 04, 2003 1:44 pm

what type of SP should I be able to get for jeff kent? I tried to get morris straight up, but the guy didnt like it...i thought that was a pretty good deal.

I just lost schilling and kent is expendable with durham on my bench to play 2B...I have plenty of outfield power so I'm not worried about losing kents power.

What type of deal should I try for a top pitcher

Maybe package Kent and a guy like Sabathia or another #3 or #4 starter type for morris mulder ect.??

Moyer
Millwood
Mulder
Schmidt
Wood
Wolf
Vazquez

I think you could try to get any of these guys for Kent.

Well, you really have two choices. I think that Kent is a 2nd or 3rd round calibre player, and I would ask for at least one of these pitchers in return for him: Mulder, Zito, Hudson, Millwood, Morris, Wood, Mussina or Prior. I don't think Moyer, Schmidt, Wolf or Vazquez are enough to get back for the 2nd best 2B in the game, and the only really viable powerhouse at that position other than Soriano.

If you can't get at least one of the pitchers that I listed for him, I would keep Kent. Then, try to trade Durham away for a decent mid-tier starter. For Durham, I'd target a guy like Moyer, Pineiro or Nomo. You might also try getting someone like Wade Miller, who has struggled but is turning it around but his numbers are still pretty ugly.

I wouldn't trade Kent for anything less than a top-flight pitcher. Morris sounds reasonable to me, but I wouldn't trade away Kent for much less that that.

Well a guy of his quality yes, maybe not Moyer because he has been on a tear lately. But really, Moyer is only about a top 40 pitcher.......you should be able to get someone comparable for Durham.
