Brian Roberts didn't play today against the Rockies because of back spasms.
Manager Lee Mazzilli wouldn't admit it then, but it's also clear that Roberts' departure from last night's game was because of his back. Roberts is likely to be in the lineup tomorrow in Toronto. ''Going on that [artificial] turf, it would probably be a good day [for him to rest] right now,'' Mazzilli said. ''I could tell [he was hurting]. The kid wants to play every day. But I could tell it was just a little nagging thing. It happens because he plays hard, sliding head first, diving for ground balls. He goes all out. I can see why he has [a back] problem
It will probably be a nagging back problem for him all season so his fantasy owners should expect he will miss a couple of days here and there.
