"I understand that these events took place many years ago, and that you may not be able to collect all the relevant records and physical evidence. However, Mrs. Schiavo's family deserves to know anything that can be done to determine the cause and circumstances of her collapse 15 years ago," Bush wrote. "The unanswered questions may be unanswerable, but the attempt should be made."
Her family would like some answers - sounds reasonable to me.

Well, they're mistaken then. I am a firm member of the "Christian Right," but I thought the guy should have been able to let her die years ago. I've always been mad at the doctors. If they hadn't ignored her husband by putting her on life support in the first place, none of this would have ever been an issue. Instead, these people - who didn't even know the personal situations involved - went with the opinions of people who spent less time with the lady and created one of the biggest messes of the last decade.
Oh, and McCain lost to Bush because McCain is not smart and savvy. There's more to being president than just public speaking.
I won't say more than that else Rule Three be envoked.

Why do you hate America so much??
I don't hate America at all... I just don't care much for our govt.!
I know, I was just messin around. I've heard people use it as an "answer" to critical questions about government actions, and it makes me laugh (if nobody else!)

Hmm that interests me, because even as a democrat I have a fair amount of respect in McCain. He's always seemed like a pretty solid, straight forward respectable guy, not afraid to break away from his party if he disagees. I'm curious as to what you don't like about him. If the Mods don't want you to share it would you mind telling me in a PM?

Yeah, I don't care if he votes away from his party. Off the top of my head, campaign finance reform is what I can't stand most about the guy. Total sham.

I'm sorry, would you mind elaborating why its a sham? I know some about the issue but not as much as I would like.

Well, I don't know if this is what JT was referring to, but one of the problems has been huge loopholes that have allowed enormous amounts of money to flow to campaigns, in new channels that didn't previously exist. But this has more to do with special interests, the two parties and the FEC than with anything McCain or Feingold did. Basically, everybody who thrives on big money in DC -which is most people - worked their way around the reforms, which maybe could have been stronger.
