from STATS, Inc., St. Louis shortstop David Eckstein has swung at 449 pitches so far this season and missed only 19 times. Meaning, he has come up empty on only 4.2 percent of his swings, not only the lowest figure in baseball this year among qualifiers, but the lowest figure in the majors since Wade Boggs also compiled a 4.2 figure for the 1992 Boston Red Sox.
