New Stadium????!!!!

Postby gyanksman » Thu Jun 16, 2005 4:31 pm

:~( How can the Yankees build a new stadium????? How could the Yankees play anywhere else than the House that Ruth Built??? Yankee Stadium has the most and best history in baseball. Babe Ruth's home run record was broken there, 3 perfect games pitched, 26 World Series played there, great players from Jeter, to Mattingly, to Reggie, to Mantle, Di Maggio, Ruth and Gehrig all played there. How can Stienbrenner even think of building a new stadium. I am a fan of King George but this time he has gone to far. Baseball's cathedral will be torn down and no toher will ever rise p in its place. Fenway and Wrigley got nothing on the House that Ruth Built. It is a sad day in Yankee and baseball history.

Did you expect it to last forever? Stadiums don't have an infinite life-span.

Actually it's not getting torn down. It'll serve as some kind of baseball museum, as I understand it....

What I read was the field and dugouts will remain as a HS and city field. I guess most of the stands would be taken out :-?

Remember that beam that fell a couple of years ago. The house that Ruth Built will have tp be replaced eventually. I love Yankee Stadium and have many many good memories there but I am all for the new stadium. I was in College in Baltimore during the early years of Camden yards and I was jealous. That place still stands up today and the fan base in Baltimore absolutely loves it, win or lose.

There are other theads on how great a deal financially this is for the yankees, so I would go into that again but if the money keeps coming in they should be able to put a great product on the field for many years to come. We will have the best of both worlds: a stadium that will be an attraction in itself and a reat team to root for.

And come on, just imagine taking a leak in a clean bathroom. ( I want to be there opening day to find out!)
