The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports Kansas City Royals DH Mike Sweeney (wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI revealed a ligament tear in his sprained left wrist although the tear had apparently been in that area for a couple of years.

Jul 1 Sweeney (wrist) is on track to return to the Royals' lineup on Friday, the Kansas City Star reports.

Barring unexpected complications, Sweeney is expected serve as the DH in the team's three weekend games against the Angels at Kauffman Stadium.
