Is there any way to get a bat authenticated?

I believe (from what I recall) it is cheaper if you're able to attend a local sports card show and have one of their on-site professionals do it (save on shipping costs, etc).

Yes, the above is true. But 9 times out of 10, that company has a specialized employee who only does game-used items. Thus, the changes of that person being at the show is slim. However, it sure wouldn't hurt to call and ask.
